The chess lessons we organized in cooperation with Çankaya Municipality for 1 year at Çankaya Cebeci House were completed. We gained significant experience, we met many valuable friends and learned a great deal. We observed that insufficient work has been done on chess education for the deaf and that the subject has been neglected. We learned that very few deaf people, especially those with hearing parents and who have the necessary opportunities and psychological support for significant efforts, are able to complete their normal education. We understood that the approach that “deaf people can read and understand everything” does not fully reflect reality.
